Dynamic knee stability during a hop test

Helena Grip has together with the research group at the U Motion lab, Umeå university, recently published the study ” Kinematic analyses including finite helical axes of drop jump landings demonstrate decreased knee control long after anterior cruciate ligament injury”.

The paper explores dynamic knee stability during a hop test in persons about twenty years after a knee ligament injury in comparison to a group of healthy controls. The analyses are based on motion data, registered with 3D optical motion cameras and reflective markers. The study show that that the dynamic knee control may remain compromised even long after the injury and that compensatory movement strategies seem to be used to protect the injured knee during landing.
